Going up to the Rocks

For HMST – 21 September 2002

When our life broke in half
Knowing the time was short
Yours was the instant thought
‘Let’s go up to the Rocks!’
Our chosen cherished climb
Through years our loved resort
Where a voice spoke to you
Ainslie’s enchanted view
Dome, trees, lake, sparkling air
Mountains beyond compare
There you conceived a place
Of peace, renewal, grace.

Now it was months, not years
You had no room for fears
With wave and joyous laugh
Half to the other half
You set our spirits free
Defying time for me.
